My first instinct was to call the Low Carb Sweet Mustard Sauce “Honey Mustard”.
But, since honey is out when you are keeping your carbs low…there’s no honey in it.
It’s a simple mix and go type of recipe so this post will be short and sweet too.

🥘 Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Mayonnaise (8 tbsp) * swap with vegan mayo to keep it vegan
Mayo is the like the “carrier oil” in essential oils. It provides a tiny bit of flavor and salt…but it carries the flavors of the rest of ingredients nicely.
You could leave it out but your sauce will be very sharp…if you like that, go for it.
Mustard is actually really good for you too. Check out this article about the benefits of the humble mustard seed.
- 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar *to taste
Technically, any vinegar will do but the slight apple flavor creates a nice layer in this sauce. Plus, there are so many health benefits when you consume ACV.
- 1/2 cup Mustard (8 tbsp) * We like course ground but you can use what you like.
I should rephrase this. Ada (Picky Teen), and I like course ground mustard. Thom likes Dijon.
Although, I think his love of Grey Poupon is some sort of nostalgia mixed in with his fascination of those old commercials where the guy in the limo is eating it.
My point it to use your favorite kind of mustard.

- ½ teaspoon Garlic powder * to taste
Powdered garlic is best in smooth sauces but you can use twice the amount called for in the recipe if you want to use fresh garlic.
- 1/2 teaspoon Paprika * optional – smoked
- 4 tbsp Golden Monkfruit * or sweetener of choice
I really like the flavor of brown sugar and that’s what you get with golden monkfruit.
It gives back a little more of the flavor you’re used to in the high carb version of this sauce.
Of course you can just use regular low carb sweetener if you want.
