These Low Carb Buffalo Hot Wings might be my new favorite…this week anyway.

They are delicious and so much easier to make than most people think.

This recipe includes instructions for the air-fryer and the oven.

🥘 Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs Chicken Wings defrosted

Actually , you can use any part of the chicken that you like but wings are the most traditional snack/ game-day appetizer.

  • ¾ cup Coconut Flour * 1 cup carbquick is excellent too if you are not gluten free.

Coconut flour has just the right consistency and Carbquick is great if you don’t like the coconut flavor.

You can use almond flour if you want to but it doesn’t stick to the wings as well.

My favorite option is Carbquick because it works well and tastes great – but it does contain gluten (which I’m cool with since I don’t have gluten sensitivities).

  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream

Use plain, sugar free almond milk if you are dairy free.

  • 1 batch Low Carb Buffalo Sauce

This low carb buffalo sauce recipe takes about 6 minute to make.

You can use pre-made sauce if you prefer. Just check the label for hidden sugars.

  • salt/ pepper * to taste

Yes, taste your flour mixture to make sure it’s spicy/salty enough.

👩🏻‍🍳 How to make the Low Carb Hot Wings:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees if using the oven method.
  • Season the coconut flour with salt and pepper to taste. (Taste it to be sure).
  • Beat egg and heavy cream until fluffed up slightly. Dip each wing in the egg wash and then in the flour mixture. Press down to coat well.

Air Fryer Technique (best)

So I just have to say that I avoided jumping on the Air Fryer bandwagon for a loooong time. I regret it.

I thought it would just be another appliance collecting dust and taking up valuable real estate in my kitchen.

But, I was wrong. I was wrong about the instant pot too…..but there was no way that I wanted to get both and take up all of that room.

Enter the Ninja Foodi. It does everything, and I mean everything from baking, air-frying, pressure cooking and a bunch more…just check it out if you haven’t already.

It’s seriously my best purchase of the year (no, they didn’t give me a free appliance to say all of this nice stuff about them.)

I just really, really love it.

  • Set air fryer to 350F, spritz with oil and crisp in a single layer for 30 minutes until 165F in the thickest parts and crispy. Do in batches if needed.

You can usually tell when the chicken is done just by looking at it. But, if you are unsure, use a good meat thermometer to make sure it has reached 165F in the thickest part of the meat.

Oven Method (still great)

  • Place wings on parchment covered baking sheet in a single layer.

Bake for 30-40 minutes. If they are not as crispy as you would like you can broil for 2-3 minutes

  • Cool for 10 minutes and then place them in a large bowl and pour sauce slowly over the top.

Mix carefully to coat but not so quickly that the breading falls off.

Low carb breading is tender and delicate while it’s hot. Let it cool a bit before adding the sauce.

  • Serve hot with desired sauce, dip or dressing or chill in the fridge for 3-4 days. Reheat in the toaster oven for best results.

📋 Tips & FAQ’s:

How long do these last in the fridge?

They last as long as any chicken. I would think 4 days max.

Can I freeze the Low Carb Buffalo Hot Wings?

Absolutely!

If you are going to bag them up in batches just freeze in an airtight zipper bag and thaw in the fridge before reheating them in the oven or air fryer.

If you want to be able to take them out a few at a time, freeze on a parchment covered cookie sheet in a single layer.

Once they are frozen solid, store them in an airtight zipper bag and you should be able to remove a few at a time, just like the store bought kind.

What Low Carb Sauce is best to dip my low carb Buffalo Hot Wings in?

All of them. Although, I think homemade sauce always tastes best.

That’s all for the Low Carb Buffalo Hot Wings Recipe!

I hope you love them as much as we do! Isn’t “Fall” food the best?
