This Instant Keto Chocolate Mousse Recipe is fantastic and there isn’t much else to say about it.
It’s creamy, dreamy, satisfyingly delicious and it’s so easy to make!
Traditional mousse recipes use raw eggs yolks but we don’t need to in this recipe. But it’s every bit as delicious without the risk or hassle of the raw eggs in the traditional mousse recipes. Enjoy!
🥘 Ingredients for the Instant Keto Chocolate Mousse:
First Ingredient Group
- 1/3 cup Coconut Cream just the fat, use the water for something else.
When you open a can of coconut cream the fat and water will be separated.
I usually keep a can in the fridge so that I get every bit of the good fat when the mood strikes me to make a recipe like this.
- 2-4 tablespoons Allulose
We have always and forever promoted erythritol as the best Keto Sweetener on this site. But, I have to say that I’m really digging Allulose.
It is a little more expensive than erythritol but it doesn’t have the aftertaste erythritol does. I think it’s worth a shot if you haven’t tried it yet.
- 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
If you like a milk chocolate use less cocoa…like maybe one tablespoon.
I like really dark chocolate and use three tablespoons. I thought the middle of the road was best to use in the recipe for those who are on the fence.
Check out all of the benefits of dark chocolate here if you are into that sort of thing…
- pinch espresso powder or instant coffee
This is an optional ingredient. I used the same Low Carb Instant Coffee that I use in my whipped coffee.
Instant coffee is a sneaky place for carbs to hang out and you have to read the labels carefully.
I love salted chocolate. It seems like the salty and sweet really bring out the chocolate flavor.
Truffle salt turns this treat into a taste explosion. Warning: Truffle salt is addictive. This is the best I have found in terms of price and quality.
- 1/4 tsp Raspberry Extract *optional~ less is more with extracts
Second ingredient group
- 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream *use coconut cream for Paleo
👩🏽🍳 How to Make Keto Chocolate Mousse:
- Add all of the ingredients from the first ingredient group to a chilled bowl and whip until uniform and fluffy.
Use a hand mixer to do this. If you need to use a stand mixer you might need to double the recipe because the attachment won’t reach the liquid very well.
- In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until fluffy and you see stiff peaks.
Gently fold into the chocolate mixture until just incorporated as to not knock the air out of the whipped cream.
This step is necessary of you want the fluffiest, creamiest mousse you can get without going through the traditional methods.
It will still taste good if you skip this and mix everything at once, it just won’t be as fluffy.
- Spoon into ramekins or fancy dessert dishes. Chill in the fridge for a minimum of one hour to set.
Any glass can make this dessert look classy. Wide shot glasses are a great way to make the portions smaller without compromising style.
- Top with any desired garnish.
📖 Variations & Garnish Ideas
- Exchange the heavy whipping cream for coconut cream to make this dessert Paleo Friendly.
In addition to the optional ingredients you can always add your own.
- 1 Tbsp Brandy
- Cinnamon
- Vanilla Extract
Topping ideas:
- Flavored Whipped Cream
- Cocoa Powder
- Mint Leaves
- Fresh Raspberries
- Slivered Almonds
- Lilly’s dark Chocolate ~ Shaved
Making Keto Chocolate Mousse Ahead?
This can be made a day ahead of time but I wouldn’t make it much further in advance than that.
To make the day ahead:
Prepare as usual and let chill for one hour. Place a layer of plastic wrap directly on top of the mousse once chilled and set.
When you are ready to serve, peel the plastic wrap off and top with desired garnish.
If you just cover without the plastic wrap it may get a weird “pudding skin” on top.
I think that’s all I can say about the Keto Chocolate Mousse Recipe…
I hope you love it as much as I do. It’s great with regular or the bulletproof coffee too.
As always please leave a comment below if you have any questions, comments awesome additions or just want to say hey.
Cheers for now Keto People!
