The classic flavor of chocolate and mint is so refreshing and satisfying that I doubt this Keto Chocolate Mint Shake recipe needs much explanation as to what you can expect.
It’s a fantastic treat after a long day and can be a treat, dessert, or breakfast recipe when you need something sweet quickly.
🥘Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup full-fat coconut milk * use heavy cream if you like a thicker “milk” shake.
I think that we can all agree that it’s really easy to over do dairy on Keto.
I am a certified cheese lover but I have a more complicated relationship with cream. It does make for a super fluffy “milk shake” though. The choice is up to you my Keto loving friend.
- 1/2 medium avocado
Avocados add to the creaminess but you can skip if if you want a less dense shake.
- pinch of salt
I love truffle salt and it goes with chocolate in the most delightful way. This is the kind we use.
- 1 tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder *To Taste.
I like three tablespoons of coca powder but not everyone likes their chocolate this dark.
- 4 tablespoons allulose or sweetener of choice to taste.
I am Keto Adapted and use 2 Tbsp but this is often not enough sweetness if you are just starting on a low Carb WOE (Way of Eating).
Your taste buds will eventually change and you will not enjoy super sweet foods…until then use enough to make this shake the way you like it.
Keto won’t work long term unless you enjoy your food.
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Almond extract is a nice alternative.
- 1/2 cup ice * to taste
- 5 mint leaves fresh – use 1/4 tsp mint extract (to taste) if you don’t have access to fresh mint.
I live in a place where mint grows like crazy…for a few months out of the year.
If you have access to fresh mint, enjoy it. Mint leaves provide a ton of health benefits that you might not know about.
👩🏽🍳How to Make the Shake:
So yeah. This will be short and sweet…
- Add everything to the blender and blitz. Do not over blend. Taste and add more sweetener or ice if needed.
- Pour and enjoy!
🔪Tips:
This Keto Chocolate Mint Shake recipe won’t keep. Enjoy it right away after making it.
Also, do not “over blend”. You’ll lose that icy thickness quickly if you blend the ice completely back into a liquid state.
Additions you might like to try:
- Chia Seeds
- MCT Oil
- Protein (Be careful with this one. Too much Protein causes weight loss stalls.)
- Inulin – lightly sweet, tons of extra fiber and no aftertaste.

- Cheeseburger Salad
- Personal Pizza’s
- Jalapeno Poppers
Welp….that’s all I have for this recipe.
It’s pretty straight forward but if you have any questions, awesome additions or just want to tell me how much you liked it (hint, hint), please leave a comment below.

Hi Lauren!
You can add some more ice or cream depending on what you like. Either way, it should turn out great!
I plan to make this for breakfast tomorrow. I will be using heavy cream because that’s what I keep on hand. I’m going to leave out the avocado, so do I need to add any extra heavy cream to make up for it or is it fine to just leave it out without making any other changes?
This simple recipe is so good! A go to after working out for sure. I used fresh mint. Thanks again.
