Brussels Sprouts on a plate - shredded

Fun Fact: You may have been calling these little green globes of health by the wrong name your entire life!

They are indeed “Brussels Sprouts” and not “BRUSSEL Sprouts”.

They’re named after the capitol city in Belgium, “Brussels”. I thought my auto-correct had gone wonky but I looked it up.

Weird right?….on to the cooking.

Equipment:

  • Air Fryer

I LOVE my air fryer. I didn’t think I would use it as much as I do. This brand took my cooking to a new level of deliciousness.

🥘Ingredients for the Brussels sprouts:

👨‍🍳How to prepare the Crispy Brussels Sprouts:

  • Shred your Brussels Sprouts in a food processor or with a sharp knife first.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F or 190°C.

If you don’t have an air fryer you can bake these in a hot oven. Pre-heat the oven to 425F and stir every 10 minutes until they are crispy.

I have not made these int he oven so I can’t tell you exactly how long it’ll take. But if you try it, please let me know what happened.

  • In a large mixing bowl, toss the shredded sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  • Add the shredded and seasoned sprouts to your air fryer basket and cook for 8 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Take the basket out and shake or stir the sprouts. Put it back in the air fryer for 5 minutes, shake again, then check to see if they need a few more minutes. Once they are lightly browned and crispy, they’re ready!
  • It took me about 17 minutes in my air fryer, but air fryer models vary so check often the first time you make them.
  • Serve hot with desired toppings such as Parmesan Cheese or Truffle Salt.

These air fryer Brussels sprouts come out perfectly tasty and there may be nothing left to store. But if you do have leftovers, you can keep them in the fridge for 2-3 days.

I’ll be honest and say that Brussels Sprouts have never been my favorite…

But, Thom the Keto Guy around here LOVES them.

So, I am looking into new and more interesting ways to make them. For years the only way I knew how to make them was plain ‘ole steamed sprouts.

And, this has been my biggest win in this department so far. I enjoyed them and even the picky teen tried to give them another chance ( She said “meh” lol. That’s better than the usual response.)

That’s it for now friends…Cheers!
