Hey there! This Keto Friendly, Low Carb Bechamel Sauce was the result of a readers request and I am so happy about it! Thank you!!! My family was thrilled with the result.
Bechamel Sauce is considered one of the five “Mother” sauces in French cooking and it usually made with high carb white flour. But, I think this redesigned sauce comes pretty dang close in terms of flavor and consistency.

🥘Ingredients
- 1¾ cups heavy whipping cream
- 8 oz. cream cheese * room temp and cubed for easier melting
- ½ tsp chicken bouillon – dry (trust me on this ingredient)
It won’t make your sauce “chickeny”. But it does make up for the fact that you won’t be using the forbidden white flour. It won’t be quite as good without it.
- ¼ tsp black pepper – to taste of course.
- ¼ tsp nutmeg
- salt *to taste if needed
👩🏾🍳How to make the Bechamel Sauce:
- Add the heavy whipping cream, cream cheese, bouillon, pepper, and nutmeg to a medium-sized, saucepan. Heat on low while whisking until the cheese melts and the sauce is smooth.
- Heat uncovered while continuing to whisk for a few minutes, until a desired consistency is reached. DO NOT BOIL or the sauce will get grainy.
- Test seasoning and adjust if needed. Serve as desired and keep leftovers in the fridge for 4-5 days.

Can I freeze this sauce?
I don;t think anyone would really need to because it’s so quick and easy to make but just in case… it’s a hard no on freezing this sauce.
It’ll be weird when it thaws back out. If you don’t think you can finish it in 4-5 days, make a half batch.
What do I use this sauce on?
Anything. You can put this delicious sauce on anything but here are just a few ideas.
- Eggs, Veggies, Poultry, Fish and Meat
- Wonder Noodles (OMG)
- Carbquick Biscuits
- Portuguese Pork Chops
- Shredded Brussels Sprouts
- Zucchini Noodles
- Garlic Parm Green Beans
- Use it on these Smothered Pork Chops instead of the original Sauce.
- Drink it like a lunatic (Just seeing if anyone reads this section 😎)
