Easy Cheesy Garlic Breadsticks Recipe Tip & Tricks
- Recipe Tip: Do Not add Salt.
The cheese in this recipe has a lot of salt already.
I thought it was it was a little salty, but I like salt.
Ada thought it had too much Brandy thought it had waayyyy too much.
If you don’t like it salty you have a couple an option:
Use fresh grated Parmesan instead of the powdered kind.
Salt on the Keto Diet
A funny thing, on the Keto diet you will need more salt, and you will have more of a taste for salt – I would say craving but it is not quite that far.
Sodium chloride – AKA table salt – is an important electrolyte that is excreted in urine when your in Ketosis.
If you don’t eat enough salt, you can have some unpleasantness like the Keto flu (when you’re first starting Keto) constipation and cramps.
I still get cramps occasionally but then I just have a salty snack like spicy pork rinds – my go to – or maybe some of these cheesy garlic breadsticks.
There is more information about salt and other electrolytes in our Keto Supplements Post.
Recipe tip: The mixture is not going to be dough.
The mixture is not going to be dough that you will roll out.
I will be a lumpy kind of crumble like this:

Just spread the mixture around the parchment as evenly as you can without leaving any holes.
When you bake it the cheese will melt together making the final texture.
Recipe Tip: Cook Time
I don’t know if it is the difference of the oven or the day or how thin it is spread on the parchment, but the cook time can vary quite a bit on these.
How I make sure to get them just right is that I set a timer for 13 minutes and then keep checking them after that.
Once you see that the edges are starting to get brown and crispy, then you have about 3 minutes left to get them to look like the ones in the picture.
If you like, the cheesy garlic bread-sticks can be really crispy – like crackers.
What you do is wait for the edges to get crispy and brown, then turn the oven off and just leave them in the oven, cooling for another 5-10 minutes.
Watch them through the oven door by turning the oven light on. If you open the oven door it will let all the heat out and this will not work as well.
When they are all golden brown, take them out and cut them with a pizza cutter while they are still hot.
Wait for them to cool before breaking them apart and enjoying them.
