This will be a short and sweet little post because this naturally low carb side dish is seriously super easy to make.
🥘Creamed Spinach Ingredients:
- Butter
- Baby spinach *Frozen (easiest) – or fresh and chopped; about 16 cups
I really prefer to use frozen spinach in this dish and keep the nice, fresh spinach for salads and omelettes.
Substitutes:
I have never tried this recipe with kale, mostly because I’m not super in love kale. But I bet it would work just fine if you want to sub it for the spinach.
Speaking of the spinach, it doesn’t have to be baby spinach. But it is tender…mmmm.
- Heavy cream
You can substitute the heavy cream for any type of milk you want to use. I think broth or wine would work fine as well. But I would add only 1 oz, instead of two.
- Cream cheese cut into small pieces
- Garlic * dried or fresh minced
To taste.
This a “to taste” ingredient and can be subbed fro red pepper flakes if you want a little zip.
- Parmesan cheese optional, for topping
