Perfect Keto Beach Body

It has been too long since We’ve taken our perfect Keto Beach Bodies to the beach.

What seems like a lifetime ago we visited the beaches of Puerto Rico.

Toes in the water ass in the sand

I had my toes in the water, ass in the sand and it was glorious.

But then I ate a carb and look what happened:

Just kidding, I met Raul at the resort. He said I could use his photo. He’s a fun guy even if he makes me drink too much.

Anyway…

Of course I tried not to over eat the carbs, but there were some carbs that I needed to enjoy.

And I gained a couple of pounds – I think – but I’m not worried.

It was worth it, I needed the change in attitude that comes with the change in latitude.

This summer will be a tiny bit different. Our beach bodies are going to be on the beaches of California.

I like to look good and feel great, so I won’t be going crazy on carbs.

That’s not to hard because the sun and waves are the reason for the trip.

The Issue: The Perfect Keto Beach Body

If you google “how to get a beach body” you will get some perky little Instagram model who already has a beach body.

She tips the scale at 122 pounds soaking wet – which is nice for her.

But then she’ll then proceeds to show you a workout routine that might be good for an Olympic gymnast. Good for her, but most of us can’t do jumping jacks while standing on our hands.

And these guys would be happy to sell you their workout routine, not a realistic goal for me. And, I am still trying to figure out why are they wearing jeans on the beach.

Further down the page on the google search there is another beefcake with bulging biceps and six-pack abs who says you should be more intense in your workouts and to not drink alcohol.

It shows him doing shoulder presses with 100 pound dumbbells.

Now, this obviously works for them, after all they are all on YouTube.

But for me – and I would guess most of you – this is about as useful as a pocket protector.

At Castle in the Mountains we have a different idea of the perfect beach body, or the hiking body, picnic body, hot springs body, or the whatever-you-want-to-do-in-the-summertime body.

Your best beach body is going to be the one that you take to the beach.

Don’t wait to go the beach. Go now and remember that you are there to relax and have a good time playing in the sun.

The Keto lifestyle should never be about hiding and waiting until you’re looking perfect.

Enjoy yourself NOW!

So that’s the mind-over-matter portion. Don’t worry, I know that’s not all that there is.

We planned our Puerto Rico adventure a little over a month in advance, and I wanted to slim down and muscle up a little before we went.

If you want to accelerate your slimming down you can do that with Keto. And you won’t have to wait six months to see progress.

If you’re in Ketosis, and you want to speed up the fat loss, all you have to do is stay Keto and decrease your calories.

In Ketosis you’re burning fat for energy, you can decrease the calories you consume all the way to zero and you will just burn more body fat.

Zero calories is fasting and you can learn more about that here.

Fasting is a great way to speed up weight loss, I lost seven pounds in three days, and there are a bunch of other benefits that go with the weight loss.

Tone Up Your Beach Body.

You don’t have to strain yourself to improve your muscle tone, all you have to do is a little workout on the muscles that you want to tone.

For the all over body toning, I recommend yoga or swimming.

If you just want to tone up your upper body, lifting light weights and a lot of reps – like 100 reps – with weights light enough that it is not a strain.

If you want to work on your legs, walking or bicycling are great, but again don’t strain yourself.

Walk or ride just slow enough so that you can carry on a conversation while your doing it. But keep going.

These are my real muscles. Quite the gun-show right?

Bulking Up & Muscling Up Your Beach Body

I wanted to beef up a little before the beach.

And even though I work from home and have a weight machine in the basement, there’s still no way that I could workout all day long.

Happily, you don’t have to spend your life in the gym to build muscle.

A short very intense workout, 3 times a week will build muscle if you eat enough protein, and get enough sleep.

To build muscle you have to strain yourself. (Don’t confuse this with toning, where you do NOT need to strain).

You need to lift weights that are heavy enough that you get to muscle failure within 12-15 reps.

This makes some microscopic injuries in the muscle fibers.

Then, while you’re sleeping your body repairs muscles and makes them stronger and bigger than they were before. We have a great post that explains Exercise on Keto if you would like to learn more.

Here’s a great little video about how this works.

And there you have it, Summer fun in a nut shell.

PS: As always If you have any comments or requests let me know, or even if you just want to tell me what a great guy I am, I’d love to hear from you. Thom@CastleintheMountains.com
