– 1 lb Broccoli * florets – fresh or frozen– 4 ounces cream cheese– 2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk– 2 tbsp butter– 2 cloves garlic minced – or 1 tsp granulated powder– 1 tsp salt– 1 tsp black pepper– 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese– 8 oz cheddar cheese

– Preheat oven to 425°F or 218°C. Prepare a casserole dish by oiling or buttering.

Fry bacon and chop when cooled if using. Steam the broccoli florets for 3-4 minutes in a covered dish in the microwave on high.

In a medium saucepan, combine garlic, cream cheese and almond milk over medium/low heat. Add spices and Parmesan cheese and stir to combine.

Once the cheese sauce is melted and uniform, turn off the heat and toss in the broccoli florets and squeeze of lemon if using. Stir to coat.

Transfer the broccoli to the prepared casserole dish and top with with the remaining cheddar cheese and bake covered for 20 minutes.

Uncover and bake for another 5-10 minutes so the cheese can brown. Serve with chopped green onions for garnish.
